MLK & The Fight Against Foreclosures
ShareThis
For Immediate Release
Demonstration to stop foreclosures marches to sheriffs office On Martin Luther Kings Birthday
On Jan 17th at noon families will gather in front of the West side of city Hall and than walk and make brief statements along bankers row and than the families will gather at the sheriffs office and demand that all sheriffs sales be put off indefinitely. This comes on the heels of all the scandal surrounding the sheriffs office as well as the 10's of millions of dollars slated to help families out facing foreclosure through the (EHLP) Emergency Home Loan Program. Too many homes are still
being lost to foreclosure due to the slow moving pace of HUD's decision making and program
implementation.
For now the courts have ordered that the sale of residential homes be postponed until the end of February 2011, but this is not long enough.
Rev. Johnson who also lost his home to a questionable sheriff sale will also be in attendance Monday to demand some answers. After a year of trying to find out how his home was sold
out from underneath his feet Rev. Johnson will join us in saying "enough is enough" and join
us in demanding real change.
If Rev. Martin Luther King was alive today he would not stand by while 1 in 5 families were
losing their homes to foreclosure and King was about more than service he was about challenging
injustice and members of PPEHRC intend to do just that.

We PPEHRC need every one's help to halt the sheriff's sale, of the home, of our member's Claudia Wilkbank Johnson & Benjamin Wilkbank. We urge everyone to call the office of the Delaware sheriff 302-855-7830 to insist that he/ she must halt the sale and investagate.
Phone calls are also needed for Rev. Johnson . We must presure the philadelphia's sheriff's office to investigate the illegal foreclosure and sell threw the sheriffs office.
